Scout your location during the day first
Prepare for long periods outside so dress warm and in layers
Bring a flashlight and a phone
Shoot in manual mode always
Lower your aperture to allow more light in - F1.4 is ideal
Keep your camera's ISO as low as possible but ensure picture is bright enough
Use a tripod for long exposures in every circumstance.
Don't typically shoot longer then 15-20 secs
Experiment is key!
