Hello friends and followers,
My name is Dre Erwin, and many of you may know me from my photography page. While it might seem like I'm still active with my photography, many of the photos I've shared recently are older ones that I've been editing from my PC. Unfortunately, my situation has changed drastically since March.
I suffered a severe bicep rupture that required multiple doctor visits, ultrasounds, and urgent surgery. The injury has been incredibly painful and limiting, making it impossible for me to work in my usual capacity as a primary care nurse up north. My job requires long drives and independent work, and I have the privilege of serving First Nations and Métis communities. However, I haven't been able to perform these duties since the injury, and I recently reinjured the same area.
This unexpected situation has left us struggling to cover our basic expenses, as my sick leave has run out, and my employer is unable to pay me vacation time while I'm off sick. We're facing challenges in paying our mortgage and managing credit card interest payments. This has been particularly hard on my girlfriend, Charlene, and our 3-year-old son, Mykel, as we try to navigate this difficult time together.
For those who know me, you know that I'm not one to ask for help for myself. I've always been the one raising funds for others, whether it was for a blanket warmer for our clinic up north or for cameras and equipment to support the mental health of youth in Pinehouse Lake. Now, I find myself needing to ask for your support for my family.
We are hopeful that I can return to work full-time by the end of August, but we need immediate help to get through this tough period. Additionally, my brother is getting married on August 10 in Yorkton, and I wish I could do more to help him during this special time.
The funds raised will go towards:
Covering our mortgage payments
Paying the minimum interest on our credit cards
Other essential bills and expenses
Any contribution, big or small, would be deeply appreciated. Even sharing this campaign with others would be a great help.
Thank you for your support and understanding during this challenging time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dre Erwin, Charlene, and Mykel
